Hollywood's hot workout

Us Magazine passes the scoop on a new workout in celebville that gets you super "immediate results." Tracy Anderson has a magic regimen that mixes Pilates-esque routines on a machine she created called the "Hybrid Body Reformer"- with choreography sessions tailored to each client.

"I've taken women from a size 12 to a 2," Anderson says. She charges $30 to $65 an hour and requires a 3 month commitment. Tracy claims, "Most lose 9 inches in their first 10 workouts!"

Anderson's studio is in Los Angeles and it's reported Gwyneth Platrow, Chris Martin and Madonna are clients. Anderson says, "I don't teach generic classes." She uses a computer analysis of each new client's muscle structure to "devise a plan to get them into the lean, flexible shape of a dancer."

Very interesting...
Taking 3-5 Pilates reformer sessions per week with a great teacher will get you similar results. And any good Pilates teacher should be serving up personalized workouts. What the heck is a hybrid reformer?

As with most things in life nothing is exactly the same. There are many reformer machines out there on the market, each a little different with there own unique or not so unique aspects. There are a lot of Pilate studios out there also. Same thing applies. Taking 3 – 5 Pilates reformer sessions per week may get you those same results, but probably not in the same time frame.

This machine and the work outs are new, innovative and effective. Tracy’s program not only comes with her own truly unique moves, but with an approach that is truly results oriented for the client’s success. I can personally attest to the success of her program and her ability to help her clients see results and stay motivated.

I can see where some industry people might scoff and say Pilates is Pilates, a reformer is a reformer. But, that is just not true. It is not true of most things in life. I think industry people should be open to new ways of improving and expanding programs that are effective. After all there is an awfully big world out there and lost of us people who want and need help in getting back in shape, looking and feeling good.

Before you discount Tracy’s program and her reformer remember that she puts it out there that it requires work and commitment. She should not be made to appear as if she is selling a magic “diet pill” to people made out of sugar. Her success is good for the entire industry. It gets Pilates out there for people to hear about and investigate. I don't know where you are located but I'll bet if you contact Tracy she will be glad to explain to you about the hybrid reformer and her program.

Also, I do no have a Google/Blooger or other web page or myspace to sign off so I have to do anonymous, but name is Kim and I am a client of Tracy's and I know and have seen many of Tracy's clients and their success first hand.

Thanks for the postings.

Does anyone know how to reach Tracy Anderson or her studio. I've been googling her and nothing seems to come up as far as where her studio is.
Thanks.

I just spent alot of time online trying to find it myself. I finally came across a link to her website. Try this:

To Bita, if you are wanting to locate Tracy Anderson's studio in Fishers, forget it. She left all her clients over night. Took all her equipment and our money. Yes, she has a great workout system. We all loved the studio, but she has a history of this. Watch out LA and NYC> a client in Fishers

Anonymous said...

To Bita, I was a client of Tracy Anderson Studios in Fishers also. Her program does work, but don't believe everything that you hear about Tracy and her business. It is true that she did leave her clients in Fishers overnight...just took the machines and our money and left. She claims to have been a student at the Julliard School of Dance, but come to find out she was there for only 3 months and then left. She has no formal training in fitness, exercise, or the body. She is just smart enough to be able to pick things up quickly. She is very creative and comes up with incredible moves, which keep your muscles guessing what's next. She just can't seem to focus her ability or control her lying. I stronly suggest you think twice before giving her any of your money. You will never see it again if you do.

Also...there is no computer generated system. This is completely false.

She is NOT a great Pilates instructor!! Trust me, I am currently becoming a Pilates (certified) instructor...something Tracy Anderson offered in Fishers, IN and did NOT follow through!! She was too busy checking her hair and zits on her face to pay any attention to her PAYING clients!! I found out her teaching methods are not great, they are OK but not something you would expect in Hollywood!!!

Very sad to see Tracy Anderson getting any kind of publicity considering how she treated her clients at her Fishers, Indiana studio. She is so "star struck" frequently talking more about her travels in training Madonna and Gwyneth than focusing on her clients in the studio. So many of us paid Tracy a substantial amount of money with the idea she would measure and monitor our progress frequently....she was rarely around. When she abruptly closed the Fishres studio, we were sent an email stating that the reformer machines needed maintenance and we would be notified when the studio reopened. What a lie. In the meantime, it appears our thousands of dollars for our unused sessions, have been used to produce a DVD, maintain her Studio City location and travel to stay connected to her celebrity clients! She was recently quoted as saying Madonna wants her to open a studio in London! This makes me ill. How interesting that Madonna, Gwyneth and others don't know this side of Tracy. Would they care if they knew she owed other Moms and Professional women ... just trying to stay in shape...money?

Tracy's success has been at the expense of many others thru lies and deceit. I agree with a previous post that getting information out there about the many benefits of Pilates is a good thing. Many of the clients at her studio in Fishers obviously understood the benefits as we committed our money and time to working out. How interesting that in the numerous articles published recently about Tracy being dubbed the "guru of fitness" to the celebrities, never once is it mentioned how she lied to her Fishers, IN clients when she closed the doors overnight. Her success is not good for the industry when it involves lying, not being authentic and stepping on people to get ahead.

If you really want to know what all Tracy is about check out this article that was in the Indianapolis Star (Tracy's hometown).
Exercise studios' flop stirs lawsuit
Investor in East of L.A. business seeks an accounting from Fishers partner
JAMES A. GILLASPY JAMES.GILLASPY@INDYSTAR.COM

A woman who hoped to fatten her exercise business in Fishers by adding a studio in Los Angeles now is being sued by her California partner.
In her June 7 complaint in Hamilton Superior Court, Deana Grabill claims Tracy Anderson misapplied funds and failed to pay taxes owed by their East of L.A. partnership.

Grabill, a former Fishers customer who helped open the California studio, seeks a financial accounting, compensation for losses and a liquidation of East of L.A., if anything is left.

According to Anderson, who rejects the claims of misconduct but has been embroiled in financial turmoil for years, East of L.A. was dissolved, and Grabill has no ties with either studio.

"I'm basically the talent, and she bought in with her MBA as the business partner, and she nearly ruined it," said Anderson, who now operates here as Tracy Anderson Studios, 7266 Fishers Crossing Drive.

Grabill and Anderson formed their limited liability corporation in February 2005, with Grabill securing a line of credit to help cover the costs of operations, according to the lawsuit.

So far, Grabill says, she has contributed more than $100,000.

"It was my understanding (Anderson) had a studio up and operating and was just looking for some business savvy," said Grabill's attorney, Julianne Nixon, who agrees that her client was enlisted to help administer the business side of the partnership while Anderson developed its product line of studio and video exercise programs.

"That is what is supposed to have happened. That is not what actually happened."

The lawsuit contends Grabill was quickly removed from day-to-day business affairs and that Anderson withheld her salary and information about financial matters that put Grabill at risk.

"Beginning in April 2005," the lawsuit adds, "Anderson has paid personal expenses from East of L.A. funds without the consent of and directly contrary to the repeated requests of Grabill.

"Anderson continues to operate both the Indiana and California studios, has frozen Grabill out of East of L.A. and has usurped business opportunities of East of L.A. to herself."

For Anderson, a Hamilton County native whose training in dance and drama set the stage for her business endeavors, the lawsuit is the latest in a string of financial difficulties.

Anderson, the wife of former Indiana University basketball standout Eric Anderson, opened her first Fishers venture in 2001 at 121st Street and Cumberland Road. The Andersons offered dance, drama and basketball instruction as Young Artists and Athletes Development Center.

By October 2002, according to court records, the operation had closed, with a history of deficient rent payments that were $25,000 past due.

Tracy Anderson then set up Performance TBA Dance and Hardcore Pilates in a strip mall south of 116th Street on Allisonville Road.

After running up a $25,000 rent deficit there she moved in 2004 to the small Fishers Crossing studio, where she dropped dance and pursued the exercise and weight loss programs that would become East of L.A.

But there was unfinished business. In early 2004, Duke Realty and Village Square Associates sued Anderson and her business entities. A year later, as East of L.A. was forming, judges awarded $450,000 to the landlords, and the Andersons filed bankruptcy to escape their debt.

Today, Tracy Anderson's attorney in Muncie, John Brooke, said Grabill is right to think there is no money left in East of L.A.

"The limited liability corporation exists in name only," said Brooke, who claimed the joint enterprise ended after the partners argued about cost overruns in L.A. and then separated.

"Deana's not going to get any money out of it, and she may end up being partly responsible for some of the obligations."

Among those obligations, Brooke said, are the tax claims.

Dear Kim
In addition to the thousands she owes myself and others, her "personalized" routines are not so personalized, my dear. On more than one occasion I would have the exact same routine as the person next to me..how insulting. more than once, she didn't even bother to change the name on top. Her "personally designing your program", well let's just say that for awhile she was paying her sister in Illinois, who had not only never laid eyes on most of us,but had no background in fitness, or Tracy's glorious sequencing... tailor made for your body? I think not. As for her "trademarked moves" if you do your homework, there is no such thing as a trademark or patent for an excercise, coreography, or workout. There are clients in Indiana who have prepaid up to 350 sessions, and due to her track record (had to change the studio name three times to claim bankruptsy and avoid being sued by former landlords)...do NOT pay her in advance. And if you are employed by her, be warned that on several occasions she went over three weeks without paying her employees. You can gush all you want, but Tracy Anderson has without a doubt hurt more people than she has helped, and at the end of the day...THAT, my dear defines her.

Anonymous said...

Yes, there seems to be a clearer picture painted of Miss Tracy Anderson. As stated before...Don't pay in advance, don't trust a word of her bull, and know that once you stop using the reformer your muscles will expand back to where they were. It seems like Tracy has severe A.D.D. because she can't stay focused long enough to finish anything. As soon as she is done using you she will step on you to get to her next endeavor. Current Tracy Anderson clients: DON'T SAY WE DIDN'T WARN YOU...she will run with your money when something better comes along. She does NOT have your best health interests at heart. And please don't follow her own personal diet: eat boxes of cookies, cupcakes, chocolate, burgers and run to the bathroom...uhh...not healthy. But hey, she's your fitness trainer!

Doesn't it make you wonder how Gwyneth Paltrow injured her knee? her publicist won't comment. If she had an accident on the set of her movie, he would have said.

In the best interest of other women and men who want to workout out with Tracy either thru her studio in California,as a private client or other studios she may decide to open with someone elses money..buyer beware! It is so sad to see that she attracted a number of great gals to work out at her Fishers studio. We trusted her with our money that she would operate a studio where we could count on the doors being open for a good workout. Looking back, one of many clues should have been the 36 x 36 framed photos she had of herself that greeted clients as we walked in the door. I am not sure I have ever noticed someone look in the mirror more and be so very in to themselves. Her focus was on recruting members, making promises and taking our money for her own use. Secondly, for anyone reading any of the postings...none of this is even close to bashing Tracy. All of the comments are very true. It is very simple but sad fact after fact that her many clients in Indiana have come to realize. How great it would be to get my money back Tracy! Deciding to spend that money for Pilates took a great deal of thought. At this point the thought of you having no guilt or remorse for doing so is driving me and I hope others to get the word out about your other side. We all make mistakes, however you just continue to make many of the same ones and thru it all you continue to stomp on those around you.

Anonymous said...

Tracy is an "all hype" narcissist of the worst kind. I saw through her "we'll make you a size two" speech right off the bat. The reason the routines worked initially was the dedication and hard work of the instructors. When the Fishers IN studio started to unravel, they unfortunately were the first to go. Tracey was always flitting in and out, busy with her "celeb" clients that she felt compelled to constantly brag about. She is an "all show" kind of gal, who really showed her true colors when she took the money and ran. Shame on you Tracey!

Anonymous said...

yep...the above comments are true and then some! She is also a pathological liar...I believed what she told me when I signed up in Indiana, and then as time went on caught her in numerous lies. When I signed up, she led me to believe that not only was the LA studio up and running, but that there was a New York studio as well. When I mentioned that I was going to go to NY and would love to work out there, I never could pin her down as to an exact location...imagine that. Oh well, I did meet some great people and was turned on to a great way of exercising. LA residents...beware

My heart goes out to everyone who has lost our hard-earned money through this studio. I showed up for a Saturday morning class the day after the reformer equipment was removed. No one in the class knew what happened, some of the instructors were called and even THEY had no clue what happened, and a class regular ended up teaching the class that day. I always wondered after the article ran in the IndyStar how she stayed in business-especially with the way word travels around this town! Personally it's insulting what she's done...she assumed we're all a bit 'backwooded' here in the Midwest and took advantage of our hospitality and very generous and hospitable hearts. Fortunately in my case, I was only taking the dance classes for extra exercise and to 'switch up' my routine from becoming mundane. I paid a flat fee and wasn't out too much money through this whole deal. However, I would like to share this bit of information that I have....I called the studio at or around June 24th...a woman was inside aswering a phone that was obviously ringing off the hook (the hands-through-her-hair and death look she shot me through the window when I knocked on the door pretty much gave that one away). So I drove off, and called back 3 minutes later (not mentioning I had just been at the door) and she told me that she 'was a friend of Tracey's and was answering phones for her". She also informed me that ANYONE on Tracey Anderson's member email list received an email from Tracey Anderson's Attorney regarding their unused session reimbursement.

Now I don't know about y'all, but I NEVER received that one. Perhaps it's because I wasn't a reformer client. But everyone who has been messed over with this needs to STICK TOGETHER in this deal, stop by the studio, call NONSTOP and demand to know what's going on and who her attorney is. Let's keep this blog going..although I am not out any money, I'd LOVE to help in any way I can.

PS: There's a GREAT new studio in Fishers called SWEAT, LLC started by former Colts and Indiana Firebirds cheerleaders. Check it out at www.indysweat.com. I am very impressed with the classes. Let's get the fun old gang introduced through this scam at TAS and take our energy, beauty, and talent elsewhere.

Past Fishers Fitness Client...and Indy Hometown Girl...

I too got majorly got screwed by Tracy Anderson. She owes me over $6K for unused Pilates workouts!!! If someone knows how to get in touch with her Attorney, please let us all know!!!

I can't believe I ever trusted what Tracey Anderson was all about. She had me and several of my friends completely fooled...shame on her!

Hopefully, justice will be served!!!

Ditto to all that has been posted. I have added a few postings on this site as well as other sites to get the word out that there is another side to Tracy Anderson that many do not know about. To the last two postings.... there were a number of clients that did receive an email from the Attorney Tracy is using. The firm is Church, Church, Hittle & Antrim located in Noblesville, Indiana. I am not sure why some clients received the email and others did not. The email notes that she had been advised some time ago to close her Fishers location, but resisted doing so in an effort to accommodate her many loyal customers. It stated that she truly regrets closing the studio but does intend to pay all clients their unused time. It also stated that if you feel you have a claim for unused time, please forward it to the law office. Tracy intends to honor all obligations, but a time frame can't be given until they know the total number of claims. The email was dated May 29th. Also, a list has surfaced with current clients and their number of remaining sessions as well as an inactive list of clients. The current list had over 150 clients, many with several hundred sessions. The inactive list of clients was even larger. Do the math....how sad Tracy pulled this on her many LOYAL CLIENTS as she called us! Hope this helps in your efforts.

Tracy Anderson took over 40 pounds off me when I had tried everything else. I am hoping that with enough positive energy she will reopen here. I miss it so much and miss dancing with her! She is very intuitive and naturally talented. It sounds like many people here have very wrong information. I do know that Tracy didn't own the studio until very recently and it obviously was too late to save it. She motivated me and was always very kind.

Anonymous said...

To the above client....you obviously DIDN'T know Tracy. She DID own the stuido. She was and always had been the majority owner. Her partner, GB, is the engineer behind the machines. He is the only reason the studio didn't close earlier. He put thousands of dollars of his own money into the studio to cover the rent, payroll, etc. Tracy has him wrapped around her finger and had full control of the studio the entire time. You obviously believed everything that Tracy lied to us about. Take a step back and really read between all of the lines. She lied about just about everything.

Anonymous said...

It was only a matter of time before the negative publicity caught up to Tracy Anderson studios. I am not sure why the person who said they lost 40 lbs. with Tracy indicated that Tracy only recently owned the studio...I was a client of hers for close to two years, all of which Tracy was the owner and in control. At one point, Tracy did bring in a "business partner," Glenn. Where is he and why has he not stepped up to the plate since Tracy has not. I am not a fitness trainer but know enough that being in shape is not just about being a size 00, 0 or 2 but is also about leading a healthy lifestyle. How can Ms. Anderson be portrayed as an excellent trainer when she closed her doors with absolutely no notice and no recommendations for her clients as to where to go? Further, it is very presumptuous of her to assume her dedicated and loyal Indiana clients have the extra thousands (yes I said thousands, we all paid in advance!) of dollars laying around to join another gym. I wish Tracy well, I really do! I just want my money back so that I can move forward in my fitness goals! Former TAS Client in Indiana

Anonymous said...

All of the former Tracy Anderson Studios clients can debate back and forth as to whether she is a good trainer or not. However, sticking to the facts, it sounds like she owes a lot of people a lot of money. Hopefully anyone thinking of investing their time and money to work with her will first read these posts so they can make an educated financial decision.

Anonymous said...

To the client who lost 40 lbs. thru the workouts she had with Tracy...good for you. Whether it was thru the dance classes or working out on the reformer machines, there were a number of us who benefited in many ways from the sessions we PAID for at TAS. That is not the issue being disputed. I was a client at TAS for three years and Tracy did own the studio. If you read back at the posting that highlighted the article published in the Indianapolis Star, Tracy did have a history of poor business practices. She was just convincing enough to new clients that the more sessions one buys, the lower cost per session ... throw in a few specials here and there and in her pocket went thousands of dollars. Several of the people who worked at TAS were the reason many of us continued coming to the studio. For some time, Tracy's focus has not been on the Fishers Studio...I recall her telling me and others when we first signed up that she would be measuring us frequently...I believe that happened maybe twice and I had to ask! Her focus has been on promoting TAS in LA and connecting to her celebrity clients. Our money was incredibly mismanaged by Tracy. With over 150 ACTIVE clients paying huge amounts of money, I struggle calling her kind right now. Kind is not taking our money, lying as to why the studio was closed and not hearing one word from Tracy at this point some 8 weeks or so later. So good for you at the positive change in health you experienced and be sure to give yourself the credit! All that has been written about Tracy is the truth, not just what people/clients think or feel.

IF YOU WANT TO REPORT ON THE FRAUD OF TRACY ANDERSON, CONTACT THE MAGAZINES WHO PUT OUT ARTICLES ON HER! The fact that she is making money on lies and deceit is absolutely appaling. Here are a couple of editor email addresses to send things to: (Bazaar magazine) webmaster@bazaar.com, (Grazia Magazine) louise.foster@itp.com, (Merge Magazine) editor@mergemagazine.com

Expose Tracy for the LIAR that she is! And for all of you Fishers, IN people - we LA folks are with you! She never paid her hispanic cleaners until they finally had to quit, she never paid the black man who cleaned her awnings, she didn't pay her dancers for the DVD video until they threatened to sue, the list goes on!!

Please remember that Tracy has a business partner named Glynn Barber who is also her "partner in crime." I feel terribly for all of Tracy's Fishers, IN clients.

His estranged wife is trying to recover some of their life savings that went into Tracy's studio in 2005 and 2006. He is an integral part of the reason Deana Grabil was pushed out of East of LA.

Anonymous said...

Tracy's partner "GB" did own the studios until recently. Anyone who buys the stuff about being repaid will be in for a rude awakening. I would suggest that Tracy's law firm is contacted. Hopefully, you have records of your payments to the studio and a record of your hours used and hours owed.

Good luck!

Anonymous said...

I'm glad I did some checking before I decided to give Tracy my business. "Partners in Crime" That's a great way to put it. Glynn Barber and Tracy Anderson were not only business partners, but share a home in Noblesville Indiana, they are engaged while they are both still married. How's that for great character. GB's wife filled for divorce after she found out about the affair. That's a matter of public record and GB brags about his relationship with Tracy. It's also a matter of public record that Glynn Barber has lawsuits pending against him in Portland, Indiana. Sounds like they are the perfect couple. Both have no regard for being honest in their business endeavors. These people aren't untouchable. I can't figure out why all of your complaints aren't lawsuits against her? I also can't figure out why any publishing company would publish an article without stating ALL the facts about her/their business's. It didn't take a lot of digging before I found the information I did. I also did a check with the BBB and they have no complaints made against her business??? What are you people waiting for?

Anonymous said...

Finally, people are catching on! Let's keep the communication going! As for contacting her attorneys, many of us have and have received no response. We have also contacted magazine editors to report Tracy Anderson Studios' poor business practices!

Anonymous said...

Call me crazy, but maybe if an attorney representing you contacted her attorney you would get an answer?? Better yet, if you sued her in civil court to get your monies back how could she avoid that? It's like all of you want to complain about what she did to you, but no one wants to take any action. Makes me wonder if you're just name bashing.

Anonymous said...

I have much better things to do than name bash. I'd like to be at a new gym exercising instead of dealing with this but I can't because Tracy Anderson Studios took off with thousands of my dollars. When someone has repeatedly dumped businesses and filed for bankruptcy it is difficult to get money out of them. The history is there, do the research. There are some lawsuits in the works, but again these take money, not too mention time...which we are all fresh out of at this point. If you know an attorney who is willing to take this on pro bono then let us know, until then, don't attack us, we are not the ones who are at fault and are only trying to get the word out so that others don't wind up in the position we are in! And by the way, the BBB has been contacted by several of us.

Anonymous said...

We may not know what actions to take exactly. Please enlighten us. I'd like to get my money back, and damages for broken promises...or fraud. She is NEVER at her LA Studio, and her trainers there are lazy.

Anonymous said...

Has anyone ever thought about taking a closer look at Glynn Barber? I've read that he is a business man or at least was in Indiana? If he's making the product she is selling and they are a couple wouldn't it make sense that you could go after him too??? It appears that he was partnered with her at least at one point. Just a thought? Please keep us posted on your legal actions? Nobody likes a crook! Good Luck!

Anonymous said...

I'm not a legal expert. I do know you don't need an attorney to file a civil claim in small claims court. Not sure what the cap is in Indiana or California. Usually it's $5000 or less. May be worth checking into. Didn't mean to accuse anyone of not being truthful. It's just hard to tell what's legit on the web at times. I think the numerous posts speak for themselves.

Anonymous said...

by chance, do you have an instructor in LA named Tommy??

Anonymous said...

No bashing taking place on Gabsmash regarding Tracy Anderson. Its all TRUTH! The posts covering her sly business practices and deceit is fact.As much as the Fishers clients would love to get their thousands and thousands of dollars back, there are a number of us that would also love to make sure that Tracy does not deceive other women and men and take their hard earned money. Contacting as many Editors and informing all about her history is very important. At our expense, she now is being called the "guru of celebrity fitness" Continue writing to the Editors of the magazines to inform them that there is another side to Tracy. The BBB and Attorneys have been contacted. To make a claim for your unused sessions, contact the law firm of CHURCH,CHURCH,HITTLE AND ANTRIM in Noblesville, Indiana.

Just curious, any of the posts from clients of Tracy's Studio City location? I called out there soon after the Fishers studio closed and Kristen???? working at that studio supposedly knew nothing of the closing and said she rarely saw Tracy although she tried to speak with her once a week. Really wondering if anyone in CA might be reading these posts from Indiana clients to get a glimpse of Tracy's history.

Just to let you know you can file a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General office for the amount owed to you. I talked with them yesterday and yes each one of us has to file an individual complaint, but as soon as they start receiving them they will get working on it. They sounded very positive about it. Interestingly, they pursued a case against a health club in Fishers that closed. The documents are dated January 2007. Pretty much the same scenario, the guy closed down and did not reimburse anyone. Here is the link to the case. http://atgindsha01.atg.in.gov/cpd/docs/enforcement/SteveCarter-367681-1.pdf Note that he was also disciplined for continuing to charge people's accounts after he closed. I know Tracy did this to some of you on monthly debits and you had to cancel your cards. Please be sure to note this in your complaint if this happened to you as well as the $$ figure of the sessions owed to you. The link to the complaint form for the Indiana Attorney General is: http://www.in.gov/attorneygeneral/consumer/pub/complaint.pdf It is pretty easy to fill out. The only thing you might not know is exact name of her firm: East of LA, LLC dba Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC with Tracy Anderson being the person dealt with. Please also attach whatever documentation you have such as your contract, credit card slip, credit card or checking statement, e-mails from Tracy or her attorney and anything elso you may feel is relevant. To review the health club regulations from the Indiana Attorney General please go to this link: http://www.indianaconsumer.com/consumer_guide/health_clubs.asp Also if this should happen to you LA people in the future, here is your link to the Los Angeles County District Attorney complaint form that you would need to file: http://da.co.la.ca.us/pdf/CPDform.pdf I wish you all luck in getting your money back.

Sorry for some reason the links got chopped off on two of them when posted. The Indiana Attorney General complaint form link should end with complaint.pdf The f was chopped off. The health club regulations link should end with clubs.asp The asp was chopped off.

Still researching-Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge. We will most certainly begin to make those claims! It is not only important to get ALL of our money back (not just some) but also to ensure that Tracy Anderson Studios can not do this to anyone else. As for going after Glynn Barber, if he is attached to her company wouldn't he have to pay if he has the money? I am no legal expert so I don't know. That is the main issue, is there any money left? With the owner of Tracy Anderson Studios history of poor business practices lets hope we can recover what is rightfully ours!

All of the comments here are well founded. I am a former (original) employee of Tracy Anderson's. I can testify that her programs were neither indiviually prescibed nor computer generated nor thoughtfully designed from any point of view. She has no background or education in exercise prescription or physiology. And apparantly does not even have the dance education that I didn't even question at the time. She could never generate any pilates credentials either when I asked. There never was a NY location or a computer program that calculated people's potential body size. When training me to work for her she even said once to never ask her what muscle she is trying to target with an exercise! Why didn't I walk out the door then?

I can also testify that for years here in Fishers she either did not pay or bounced checks to employees, people hired to dance in, film, edit, and/or produce dance & mat DVDs, construction crews who built out her Fishers location, landlords, mulitple cleaning crews, and local business where she shopped personally.
The only thing she is truly skilled at is conning people out of money with excellent lies.
When I quit her studio in Fishers she told clients that I was working in her LA studio. Many clients who later saw me around town were suprised to see me and asked if I had moved back.

I feel very confident that any hopeful messages you receive about this situation are a bunch of bull. I have heard these same lies for almost 5 years. Her constant cancelling of classes and recent disappearing act are proof of her personal interest in her loyal customers progress and health. And her affair with her business partner, Glynn, a married man with children, while married and a mom herself is just more testimony to her character.

Nice Hoosiers have been giving her the benefit of the doubt for years and now she has moved on to new prey.
PLEASE contact your lawyers, Tracy's lawyers, James at the Indy Star, the BBB, and the magazines writing articles about her.
When she opened her Studio City, CA location I contacted the local chamber of commerce to warn them of her business practices. I am sure that my lone voice sounded a bit jaded. But as a group we should be able to do something that will prevent others from the same costly mistakes.

I too was a Fishers client for 2 1/2 years with many prepaid sessions remaining when the doors closed for "maintenance." To all who say "Why haven't you filed a complaint with the BBB?" The BBB website states, "If you haven't already attempted to resolve your complaint directly with the company, you should do so BEFORE filing a complaint with the BBB." I will wait until all avenues have been exhausted to get my money back, and then I will file a complaint. I have nothing positive to say about Tracy and her business practices. DO NOT GIVE THIS WOMAN ANY UP FRONT MONEY. You will regret it as many of us do.

What the hell? A handful of people have received settlement offers from Tracy's attorney in the last two days. Yet the vast majority of us have not. This stinks!

Anonymous said...

yes a few have received settlement offers but they are not for the full amount we are owed but basically break down to a reimbursement of $11 per session when the lowest amount paid to Tracy Anderson Studios could not have been lower than $22 per session. What a crock!

I will say that I am grateful for going to the Fishers, IN Studio. Before you squawk, let me finish my post. I am so thankful that I was introduced to the reformer. I absolutely love it and everything it can do for you. Did this have anything to do with Tracy? Absolutely not! There are many companies out there that sell fantastic reformers. Her hybrid reformer is no different than all of these. Plus it was all of the fabulous original Fishers instructors that taught me how to use the reformer, not Tracy. Teresa, Sean, and Emily rocked! I am also so completely glad for all of the wonderful friends I made at the studio. I have many solid, long-term friends from the studio and am very grateful I met all of them. I will truly miss the social aspect of the studio. We are all trying to stay in touch now that we have been broken up and had to scatter to other studios. Do I include Tracy in this list of friends? Absolutely not. I love all of you fellow Fishers women and hope the best for all of you.

Anonymous said...

Totally agree that Theresa, Sean, Emily & Nicole and others I am forgetting to mention were the reason many of us continued at TAS. They were the glue to the business...not Tracy..not Glynn. Tracy has no idea how lucky she was to employ such good people who cared about health, fitness etc...Tracy did teach a number of the dance classes when she was in the city, but after all it gave her the chance to look at herself in the mirror. One can take the attitude that they only care about getting their own money back, but getting the word out there about Tracy's history is the right thing to do! How dare she think we would go away easy!
Take the time to send a quick note to the various publications to inform that there is another side of Tracy that unfortunately we have all been financially kicked by.

Does anyone else remember Tracy saying she was a pink power ranger? I don't know why this came to mind the other day, but it did. Interestingly, a quick google and I turned up two site that list the complete cast of all the Power Ranger episodes.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0106064/
fullcredits

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_
of_Power_Rangers_cast_members

Neither site lists Tracy Richardson (her maiden name) or Tracy Anderson. Hmmm...

My guess is she auditioned but was turned down. She used to brag about Julliard too, but I always thought she was lying. I'm not surprised to learn she dropped out. There's a lot of talk but very little to back it up.

Anonymous said...

As a fairly new Tracy Anderson client I am not suprised to read these posts. Although I enjoy the workout and have seen some good results (from the hard work and commitment) I have been suspicious of the operation ever since I joined (for 3 months).
When she met with me the first time and measured me she gave me the lowdown on herself and how she came to be. I found the whole thing a little strange. Some quick bragging ensued. The measuring was weird. I was in sweatpants and she measured me right over them. No wonder I lost inches after the first 10 sessions. I wasn't wearing those sweat pants.
She came off kind of vapid and selfish. As much as I wanted to try this NEW workout I felt a little apprehensive signing on the dotted line. It's a lot of money to spend before you know you are going to like the program. I took the leap of faith and committed. I like the workouts very much. I feel great afterwards. Like I have worked muscles that don't get worked when you bike, run, etc...
I haven't done a lot of pilates so I really can't compare it.
My biggest problems with the studio is 1) She is never there. NEVER. 2) The bathrooms are a mess. Every time I go in them I wonder where all my money is going? Sometimes there isn't even toilet paper or paper towels. They need a good cleaning.
3) The trainers are all nice but some of them instruct you to do the exercises differently. They should all be on the same page...but with Tracy never there how could there be any consistency?
4) Every 10 sessions you are supposed to be measured but if you don't ask...it doesn't happen. You have to remind them and then schedule it.
5) Your next program is supposed to be designed after your measurements are taken...but you get a new program even if you haven't been meaured. This is when I realized there is no "personalization". No computer program based on your measurements or your body. It's a trainer printing out a program that already exists in the computer.
6) They are quick to collect payment. They don't miss a beat when it comes time to charge your credit card

The best part about the place is the people who come to workout. Everyone is committed to working hard and we let eachother know when we see good change. There is a commraderie.
The trainers for the most part are very nice. Most are knowledgeable and really there to help. Some are a little lax. That's a bummer when you're strapped in on a reformer and you need assistance.

Bottom line, I was very disappointed to find out that what I read in a magazine wasn't what I was getting. I am happy with the workout itself but know that the rug could be pulled out from under me anyday. I will be careful about signing up again.

Thanks everyone for sharing here. It really is important to tell the truth and to let people know what they are getting into.

In US Magazine Tracy is quoted saying "I don't teach generic classes." I would like to know what she considers generic? I guess the only part of that quote that is true, is the "I don't teach" part! She's too busy spending her time in the Hampton's taking care of her celebrity clients. As far as being dubbed the "guru of fitness." I think guru of lies is more fitting!

To the anon from LA, you described our studio in Fishers to a tea!! Bathrooms dirty, the instructors who were there were good, but some days we had no instructor at all. Tracy said she would be there for a dance class and then not show. She obviously did not put money back into the studio. It went to LA. I am checking out other places to work out and I'm starting to realize that she has nothing special. I did enjoy the other clients and instructors I have met at the studio.

this girl is a total shyster. i went to school with her throughout jr high and high school...at one point, there was an actual article in a local rag about her being a recurring character on friends. she obviously failed at acting, and she's certainly making a name for herself. ;) don't believe anything she claims to have done! she's always been liberal with the truth.
for those of you she scammed, i'm truly very sorry!

Anonymous said...

I also went to high school with Tracy and personally knew her. She has always been known as a pathalogical liar. It was known throughout our entire high school not to believe anything that she said. When I first read all of these articles about her hybrid body reformer and how Madonna and Gwenyth Paltrow were her clients (highly doubtful by the way), I debated on whether or not to mention this to people. But, I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt because people can always change...but I knew deep down that she hadn't. I was just waiting for karma to catch up to her and once I saw her mugshot on the news today, I knew it had.

I am a former client that spent about eight months working out before my wedding. I really enjoyed my workouts, the ladies during my session, and the trainers Emily and Sean. But, planning a wedding and catching Tracy's lies was way too much stress. I just couldn't believe some of the lies that she spun. I always wanted to run into someone from there to see if they had the same impression of her and the workouts as I did.

Did anyone buy into the diet? She had us fill out a questionnaire so her "nutrition" guru in NYC could tailor meals geared for our body types and conditions. What a joke! Nothing was tailored specifically for the individual.

Did Tracy tell any of you she was the gray cat in CATS? Rrrright!

I feel for all that got scammed by Tracy. She is good at reeling you in and forgetting you once she had your money. Buyer beware... you aren't getting what she promises and boy can she promise!

Anonymous said...

I was thinking she said the white cat. But she definitely said she was in the Broadway version of CATS. As far as the nutrition guru, it was supposed to be someone named Obi San (sp?) in New York.

Interesting article this morning in the Indianapolis Star:

http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070718/LOCAL0102/707180435

Sounds like her business acumen is pretty bad. Wonder why she and her husband split up? He's an Indiana basketball legend.

Anonymous said...

Tracy is nothing but a glorified con artist. She draws you in with the idea that she will personally be on top of your workouts so that you gain the maximum benefit possible. Yeah, right! She was rarely at the studio. She didn't know anything about some of our bodies. She just collected the money!

Anonymous said...

Yeah. That was really disappointing to me. She sells you on the whole idea at sign up, how shes going to transform your body and get you in the best shape of your life...you are so excited and inspired you committ...but that's the last day you ever see her.
I kept thinking I was going to see her at the studio...that she was going to give me some good pointers...monitor my progress. Ha. She wouldn't even remember who I am or know that I am a client.
Has anyone gone from TAS to Pilates with good or similar results? I am looking to that next as I am afraid to resign.

She forced her own father into bankrucpy with his HIDE AND SEAT furniture store. This women belongs in JAIL! Madonna and others should look out associating with this women. The company you keep!!!

Statement Tracy has made to Fishers, IN clients:

1)She acted in the movie Pearl Harbor.
2)She was a dancer on the Velvet Rope Tour of Janet Jackson's.
3)That Desperate Housewives filmed an episode in her Studio City location.
4)That she was a cat on Broadway in CATS.
5)That she was a pink power ranger.

I noticed that Tracy's clients chase celebutards for thier workout choices...suggestion using Colts cheerleades/Firebirds? How about good old fashion educated fitness instructors? I live in Fishers and I am educated about Tracy (her bad business tactics hit the paper years ago) and also WHO you are; bored housewives willing to spend your allowance to brag to your friends that you work out with "Tracy Anderson"! Oh, the rage. Fishers isn't L.A. and a few thousand dollars is no loss to people who don't make appointments and are mostly late and irresponsible...just like TRACY!

To the person who made the "celebutard" comment. I joined three years ago when the studio was very small, and Tracy was recommended by a friend. She seemed at the time to be genuine and my friend who had constant weight struggles was seeing great results. I joined on a short term basis, and began with amazing results, and therefore after an initial 90 days, Tracy offered a discounted rate for a year membership. As the business became more popular by word of mouth she started getting good local press and the business really picked up, the details started to slip for sure, and she began to be absent more and more. When she did show up, these unsolicited stories began slowly spiraling out of control. Each less believable than the next. I promise you these women are for the most part very good people who thought they found a workout they could stick to.

It's finally nice to find a posting board without ignorant midwestern men ripping on the Fishers and Carmel women, or making up stories that they've 'been with' Tracey. It's amazing what posting an airbrushed photo (and those who have seen Tracey au natural DEFINTELY know the amount of work that went into that photo:-)will do to some of these immature and perverted guys.

With that said: on the one hand it's refreshing to finally get the story on what is going on behind the scenes. Tracey lives a web of lies, and sadly her son is watching all of this and thinking it's OK to live a double life and watch his parents in this crazy, almost threesomish lifestyle. I do respect Eric for making the move closer, but on the other hand he should be fighting to get his son away from this mess-or at least get him out of the home where it is going on.

Rumor has it, GB pays his own bills, Tracey's AND Eric's as well. And we in Fishers think WE'VE been suckered? Look at this fool. 'Funonbelievers', you are obviously just as snowed as GB is. But instead of putting you down, I
will pray for you, and hope that you eventually see the light.

To bring justice to this, we need to stick together and post as much as we can. The fine line is that it doesn't become an obsession and take away precious time from our family and kids at home. Tracey has already taken enough, financially, here...it shouldn't interfere with our families and loved ones, too. Her life is really in shambles, although it looks 'glamourous' to alot of people. Could you imagine what that is like to have to run every few years and set up shop all over the country. Not worth it to me....

Look at Craigslist and other sites or posting sites that have been in operation for a couple years before Bill O'Reilly, Oprah and other HIGH PROFILE media personalities have FINALLY exposed the truth..good or bad...to gain the exposure they need.

It's also refreshing to see that LA clients are on to her as well. That is HUGE, Indiana. Just by our word of mouth, naturally people will be wary or AT LEAST think twice before doing business with Tracey. We've already done a huge part in this. Good things come to those who wait, patience. We're on the right track. Tracey will go down, even if it's another seven years.

Anonymous said...

Have Tracy's celebrity client list seen this information (Madonna, Gwyneth, Aerin, and the others)?

WE need to make sure they are aware of this.

Anonymous said...

To add to the pain...I just learned that Tracy never paid her home owner dues. She owes the community over $10,000. The community placed a lien on her house but was finally told that because she defaulted on the home loan and the other associated loans on the house that the house would never be able to sell unless the community (and other people who have won judgements against her) would release their liens. Our community voted to release our lien (give up the $$ rightfully owed us) in hope the mortgage company will finally work through the legal matter and be able to list the house and get it sold. We the neighbors are tired of the empty eye sore of a house that we have to take care of as to not an overgrown weed invested property sitting in our neighborhood. It is not just her studio clients that she has harmed. I'm sure there more and more people harmed.

I believe that a young girl just killed herself because of horrible things that she read about herself on the internet. There isnt a single person who could'nt be gossiped about openly on the internet for all to see.Tracy has worked very hard to pay everyone back-it is really old news now.As Thumper said-if you can't say something nice about someone, don;t say anything at all!!!

Anonymous said...

Tracy paid me back only 60% of my money. Comments that are about Tracy's personal life should be ignored but the facts being written about regarding her business (or lack thereof) practices is here to warn others about the possibility of being scammed. It looks like now Tracy is looking to capitalize on the money she took from Indiana clients and wants to open more studios...shame on her!

I was a client at her studio in los angeles. Yes she claimed all this high tech way of measuring you and having a computer custom your work out. And that she had thousands of moves, so you never do the same exercise for more than 10 sessions. Yeah right!! I was there for 10 months. Her "special" custom computer is paided people that we never met just randomly picking out exercises for us. And many many times we get repeating exercises!! Again and again. And when I would questioned the people who worked there, well no one had any anwsers. And they measured you with a tape measure, done by different people, and with clothes on one day then without another. So even if you were measured by one consistent person there's still human error, never mind having it done by different people in different circumstances. And yes it did help me get into better fit, but that's because I went 4 times a week at 2 hours a day. So I could of went anywhere and it would have done something to my body. The thing is she lures you in with all these false information and claimes, and then takes your money and runs. We were promised 2 trainers at all times to a 6 machine floor. There's only 1 trainer, running around raged because their over worked. We ended up just fending for ourselfs. And they want us to pay 600 dollars a month to get bare minimal training. You never saw her and if she was there she wouldn't even say hello. And yes you may say well why was I there for 10 months. Well I had worked out a trade with her in the beginning. And yes because of her wild promises it lead me to get off my ass and started to get healthy. But do I need to do it there? No, I now am able to go anywhere because I got myself in a workout mind frame. So unless you wanna waste a lot of your money don't bother. about half of the clientelle have left. You learn pretty quik that she's a bunch of bs.

To all those training to teach, why don't you look at an established Pilates training curriculum through STott Pilates or Polestar? They are established businesses, are not run by one single "guru," and will train you incredibly thoroughly to teach and to teach well. I am a Polestar trained instructor, BTW, and I think Tracy probably had to invent her own Reformer because she probably never certified to teach on a real one, much less on a Ladder Barrel, Wunda Chair, baby Arc, and Cadillac.

I just picked up the July edition of Harper's Bazaar; there's an article on Gwyneth Paltrow, she raves about Tracy Anderson: "She's literally a genius . She's completely changed my body". Yeah if you're working out 2 hours a day (Ms. Paltrow has been quoted as saying) and you're disciplined and hardworking, of course you're body is going to be transformed. I did an internet search on Tracy Anderson and the hybrid reformer because I live in LA and I thought it might be something to try. Well I'm certainly interested in participating in any of Tracy Anderson's businesses after what I've read. The bloggers seem to express genuine hurt and frustration, and there's plenty out there to back up their claims. I'm truly sooo appalled that Ms. Anderson is so unethical, lacking in integrity, and has literally conned people and took advantage of their kindness and trust to make a name for herself.

Anonymous said...

Furthermore, what you put out there is what you get back. Karma's a bitch. She'll get hers whether it's now or down the road. Ms. Anderson doesn't sound like a person that just made mistakes along the way. Sounds like she has borderline personality disorder. It's disturbing that people from her childhood say that she was always sneeky and deceptive.

Sorry meant to say NOT interested in participating in her fitness businesses.

I can't believe all the people from Fishers, IN gave up on exposing Tracy Anderson after what she did to them. Now she is being called a "fitness guru" in US magazine. She was even on VH1. It's sickening when people step all over others to get to the top. What is also hilarious is that I have talked to so many people who have asked for this "research" she has claimed to have done to create the "Hybrid" and it doesn't exist. She always claimed to have a studio in New York and that never existed. What a crock. And people like Madonna have jumped on this bandwagon?!?! It's a sign of the times I guess. It's just so strange that someone with sucha checkered past that is so EASILY found on the web (Indianapolis's most acclaimed and reputable newspaper did a story on it for crissakes)can still have so many ignorant followers..... So sad.

I am very dissapointed to find out all of this after I have purchased her workout dvd. If I had known, I would never had purchased. I got the dvd after seeing Gwenyth Paltrow rave about Tracy on Oprah. It has been one week since I started working out with "Tracy Anderson's method" and find that it is so unconventional, I am not sure it will workout for me. The dance aerobic workout, which is demonstrated in hardwood floors if very "high impact" and hard for me to follow. She introduces her workout by saying she was a dancer and gained a lot of weight and that is how she came up with this workout. Gwenyth Paltrow even speaks in her workout dvds. Bunch of BS I guess. Of course, no money back guarantee comes with this video which she sells thru Amazon. I will post my comments with Amazon.

Wow. I also was taken in by the appearance on Oprah. I ordered the Post Pregnancy workout. For the most part I have found it to be a pretty good video. I am definitely feeling the workout in muscles that I never realized were there. I just hope that I actually see results. I am sorry to hear that so many of you had problems with her in studio. How awful to put invest trust as well as money in someone and have them let you down like that. Have any of you thought of contacting the Oprah show producers? I searched the web prior to making my DVD purchase and could not find a lot and today I just stumbled upon this site. I have to say I feel a guilty now having purchased the dvd.

Stop belly aching and file a complaint with the State Attorney if you think that you deserve money back. In the time that you took to write your complaints on this blog, you could have done so to the State Attorney's Office. Also, why in the world would anyone pre-pay in the thousand of dollars to an exercise instructor? Businesses fold all the time, and the fact that they fail doesn't necessarily make the owner a bad person, just not a great business person. Seriously folks, do take some responsibility for your own decisions and either attempt to correct what you think is a wrong, take the tax write-off, or stop talking about it. Nobody likes a helpless whinner! You met the woman, listened to her statements, and still continued to pay her month after month. So now that she has absconded with your money, do something about it or shut up!

Please visit www.tracyandersonmethod.com and read Tracy’s letter to clients to fully understand this post. Please then google “Do you realize Tracy Anderson” if the full letter to Gwyneth and Madonna does not appear below.
Regards to all,
Glynn Barber
Realizations:

Hello Gwyneth and Madonna,
Do you realize that Tracy Anderson's Hybrid Body Reformer was actually designed and built by an Indiana based engineer and does not belong to Tracy Anderson? Do you realize that my company Qualtech Tool & Engineering was hired by Tracy Anderson representing herself and EoLA to design and build these machines? Do you realize Tracy Anderson never paid for the design or the build? Would you like to speak with the designer and builder of this equipment?

Do you realize that the 12 original HBR machines designed and built for the EoLA Indianapolis Indiana Studio and the Studio City studio, by me, were never paid for by Tracy Anderson? Do you realize that Tracy Anderson asked me to get involved with EoLA when she couldn’t pay for the machines blaming her MBA business partner in EoLA? Those machines are still in use today and have never been paid for.

Do you realize that you are having my proprietary equipment built and put into your New York Studio without my permission Gwyneth?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson's outlandish lies about me such as my locking her in our broom closet for 3 days in our Noblesville IN home with no food and no water are merely an attempt to cover up her con of an Indiana businessman and his 4 children?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson lied to me and all of her clients about working with the New York Knicks trainers and doctors performing research for her "Method"? Do you realize Eric Anderson confirmed that these were all lies fabricated by Tracy Anderson? Ask the trainers and team doctors that were with the Knicks during Eric Anderson's playing tenure.

Do you realize you could do what I did and ask Tracy Anderson for confirmation and valid research on the muscle biopsies and other research she claimed to have done and had done?

Do you realize you may ask for a meeting with these researchers and Doctors? On second thought, don’t do that, Tracy Anderson will view it as a threat to her survival and try her best to negate any business dealings with you. Also she will fabricate terrible stories and you would be surprised because she is such a natural actress, all levels of education want to believe her every word.

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson has never performed any research what so ever on her "method". She has only charted a few clients progress with an excel program. Do you realize that I personally paid the college student from Noblesville IN, to do that for her? Actually I can only verify that no research had been attempted through June of 07’. You may have helped her do research since then that I am unaware of.

Do you realize that any reputable fitness organization or publication may ask for this research? It would be interesting to see exactly what would be presented, wouldn’t it?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson’s sister is the same size as Tracy Anderson, and it is genetics? Tracy Anderson’s brother is built the same. Again, genetics. Tracy Anderson’s mother is over the age of 60 and a beautiful thin woman. Genetics.

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson’s method is nothing more than a 1,000 calorie a day diet and anaerobic exercise? She has the client, i.e.… you, perform 80 - 100 reps of 8-12 exercises, normal studio time, 1 hour on a reformer with spring resistance and an hour of cardio. You obviously understand the principles behind any exercise.

Do you realize that anyone determined to lose weight or get into their best possible physical shape will do so with proper mindset and motivation. A sensible diet and an hour of cardio on top of your hour of anaerobic exercise and presto, the magic formula is revealed. Remember, I own Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC and I know this to be fact!

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson is very charismatic and very much a motivator. Of course you do!

Do you realize Tracy Anderson is a scam artist and has bilked thousands from many small business men and women? Do you realize that Tracy Anderson must be held accountable to those many small business persons?

Do you realize you need to go no further than the Hamilton County Courthouse in Noblesville Indiana to seek the truth about Tracy Anderson?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson was arrested in late 06’ for contempt of court for failing to pay a $274 judgment and failing to show up to court about the matter for years? Do you realize that judgment was for a fireplace repair at Tracy and Eric Anderson’s home located at 18017 Kinder Oak Drive, Noblesville IN 46062? Do you realize she has plagiarized this to be a wrongful arrest because of a bad debt of her business partner? Do you realize that this arrest reasoning is public record? Would you like to speak with the repairman whom sued Tracy Anderson?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson was sued by Shutters in Santa Monica CA because she left them with an $18,000 catering bill that Tracy Anderson refused to pay after one of her EoLA boot camps? I paid Tracy Anderson’s half of the settlement on this suit for her. Do you realize that this too is public record?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson was going to be sued by the contractors in LA during the Studio City CA studio build out, for lack of payment? Would you like to speak with these gentlemen? Do you realize that I paid for the build out of the studio ($80,000 plus).

Do you realize Tracy Anderson was going to be sued by both the Indiana Studio and Studio City, CA studio landlords? I personally paid current, from 4 months of no pay, the lease payments for Indianapolis and Studio City leases in December of 05’? Do you realize that was a total of $50,000 plus invested into EoLA when they owed me over $100,000?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson lied to everyone claiming that her and Eric Anderson we’re divorced? Do you realize this was in the winter of 05’- 06’? Her clients, her employees, her family! Do you realize that Tracy told all of her family, friends, and her client’s that Eric was an abusive alcoholic and that was the reasoning for their divorce? You could ask one or all of them.

Do you realize in March of 06’ Tracy Anderson asked one of her clients if a few million dollars was a lot of money. The client responded “absolutely, why”? Do you know that rascal Tracy Anderson replied “Because GB has a few million dollars that I know of.“ Would you like to speak with this individual?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson and I started flirting in February of 06’ and developed a personal relationship in May of 2006 during the filming of Tracy Anderson’s DANCE AEROBICS DVD? Do you realize that I personally produced that video? That entire project was paid for by my personal check. I have a copy if you would like to see it? Do you realize that Tracy Anderson unlawfully negotiated the distribution of this video and kept all but $9,000 of the proceeds?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson and I bought a home in Noblesville IN in August of 06’?
Do you realize that Tracy Anderson threw a huge fit in late August of 06' because I hadn't proposed to her, literally forcing me to buy her an engagement ring at Rock Star jewelry in Malibu CA ($14,000) the last week of August 06’? Ask the folks there. It is a beautiful store and I’m sure they would love to have you visit them if you haven’t already.

Do you realize I had a conversation with Tracy Anderson’s sister about this forced engagement and her sister was well aware of my apprehensions? Do you realize Tracy Anderson is notorious for throwing completely irrational temper tantrums? Do you realize that Tracy Anderson threw this engagement tantrum in front of our Indianapolis Studio general manager?

Do you realize I proposed to Tracy Anderson on Sept 5th, 2006 at the Four Seasons in Santa Monica CA, the day that ring was picked up from Rock Star after being sized. Do you realize Tracy Anderson accepted my proposal? Kind of strange since Tracy Anderson and Eric Anderson weren’t even legally separated. Do you realize this looks like a “PIMP MY WIFE FOR MONEY” sitcom except it isn’t a comedy at all?

Do you realize when I found out that Tracy Anderson wasn’t divorced I escorted her, at her request, to an attorney to file for divorce? I paid that attorney, at Tracy’s request, for the divorce filing. Would you like to talk with that attorney? She is a family law attorney in Muncie Indiana.

Do you realize Tracy Anderson continued the lie claiming she had filed for divorce from Eric Anderson for several months thereafter when in reality; she had repeatedly refused the attorneys requests to sign and return the necessary documents to allow divorce filing? Do you realize Tracy Anderson’s sister and brother in law called the state of Indiana were the ones responsible for calling Tracy Anderson out on the lack of filing for divorce?

Do you realize Eric Anderson also went along with Tracy Anderson’s lie for monetary gain?

Do you realize that I gave Tracy Anderson and Eric Anderson no less than $20,000, completely traceable, to pay off their joint overdrawn Merchants National Bank checking account in May of 06’? Do you realize that I paid Eric Anderson thousands of dollars monthly for 3 months because of “Tracy Anderson’s” incurred past personal financial obligations while the couple was “married”.

Do you realize the question of the day, January 22nd, 2009, is this? Is “The most married, unmarried couple” as quoted in Gotham magazine by Tracy Anderson, really divorced? Interesting to say the least.

Do you realize that I founded Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC, an Indiana company and the California counterpart? Do you realize the corporate documents were drawn up with Tracy Anderson owning 51% and she refused to sign the documents on April 24th, 2006, the day Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC was a legal entity. Do you realize my attorney then had to redraft the documents with me owning 100% until Tracy was “comfortable” owning any part of the studios? Would you like to talk to this attorney?

Do you realize I gave Tracy Anderson’s attorney, Jack Hittle in Noblesville IN, the original documents showing Tracy as 51% owner in January of 07’ immediately following Tracy’s request for me to do so?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson and I sat in Mr. Hittle’s office that very day and signed the documents? Do you realize that to this day, those papers have never been filed with the States of Indiana or California? Do you realize what this means? I do.

Do you realize Tracy Anderson told me that you Gwyneth, wanted to partner with she and I in Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC in May of 07’ while you were hosting us in the Hampton’s? You would be interested to know how I came to be “ousted” from my own business on false promises and forgery.

Do you realize Tracy Anderson blamed her EoLA business partner for all of her financial woes and back taxes and I believed Tracy Anderson? Obviously now, according to her website, she is blaming yet another party. See Gwyneth, you and Madonna are in good company. Many good people such as us have been railroaded by Tracy Anderson.

Do you realize it was Tracy Anderson that actually kept over drafting EoLA business accounts using them as her personal accounts? This is all easily accessible for proof.

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson, representing EoLA sold almost $300,000 worth of “prepaid” sessions in Indianapolis in 2004 and 2005? Do you realize that some clients of EoLA bought over 4 years of sessions up front and at a discount ($19 per session)?

Do you realize Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC was in no way connected with EoLA yet I honored Tracy Anderson’s EoLA client’s sessions?
Do you realize that the first course of action I took with Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC was to set up a monthly billing plan for new clients at Tracy Anderson Studio’s, LLC, thus giving a monthly cash flow allowing the company to establish a budget. Do you realize I discouraged any client from paying in full for a year at a time and encouraged a monthly credit card or checking account draft?

Do you realize that when Tracy Anderson dismantled the Indianapolis studio in May of 07’, that I reimbursed $17,000 to the clients of Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC in June of 07’?

Do you realize that I had always stated, in front of attorneys, that neither Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC nor I personally had any connection to EoLA? Do you realize what I am implicating?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson representing EoLA was responsible for collecting and spending the monies that the long standing Indianapolis clients, EoLA clients, were upset about and wanting refunded when Tracy Anderson abruptly shut down the Indianapolis Studio? Would you like to see the books of from April of 06’ through Jan 07’ for Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC? Would you like to talk with one or all of these EoLA clients?

Tracy Anderson spent this money long before she asked me to invest in EoLA. Do you realize this is why she couldn’t pay me either?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson also repeatedly over drafted Tracy Anderson Studio’s LLC business accounts, regularly forcing me to inject monies from my personal savings? I am more than happy to provide all financials to you.

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson forged my signature on some of my personal checks? I have them if you would like to see them.

Do you realize that I couldn’t file my 07’ taxes because Tracy Anderson wouldn’t pay her accounting bill with the accounting firm she handpicked after she gained a 51% ownership of Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC in January of 07’? To this day, I have no financial information from 07’ for Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC. Do you realize I have had several failed attempts to acquire this information?

Do you realize I asked Tracy Anderson in September of 07’ to pay off a $12,000 Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC payroll loan with Old National Bank in Portland IN that I had personally guaranteed? Do you realize that Tracy Anderson then emptied the company payroll account the monthly payment was being drafted out of? Do you realize when I confronted Tracy Anderson about this that Tracy Anderson handed the phone to Eric Anderson and then both instructed me to file bankruptcy?

Do you realize Eric Anderson stated he was in Chapter 13, yet again admitting it was only a ploy he and his attorney started to prolong the Sheriffs sale of Tracy and Eric Anderson’s home located in Noblesville IN and prolong the repossession of Eric Andersons Navigator truck. Do you realize that Eric Anderson stated the filing was to buy time for the Anderson’s since they had filed bankruptcy only a couple of years earlier? Would you like to talk to my banker? Would you like to talk to the Anderson’s home owners association or the Sheriff of Hamilton County IN?

Do you realize that Tracy Anderson never opened any of her mail by her choice? Not because of a controlling business partner, husband, or lover, rather because she wasn’t responsible enough to do so. Do you realize this has been a long standing issue with Tracy Anderson according to both of her parents, both of her siblings, and all of her employees before April 24th, 2006?

Do you realize I found my manufacturing companies unopened invoices for the original 12 machines I designed and built for EoLA, in Tracy Anderson’s and my garage, when I was cleaning it after the notice of coming foreclosure of our home. Do you realize the envelopes, several of them containing statements and invoices, were in a box full of unopened mail addressed to Young Artists and Athletes, HardCore Pilates, EoLA and Tracy and Eric Anderson dating back 3 – 4 years? A simple credit report will substantiate this.

Do you realize that Young Artists and Athletes, Hardcore Pilates and EoLA are all bankrupt companies once owned by the Andersons? Do you realize there are more?

Do you realize that my children’s college fund is what ultimately set up your New York Studio Gwyneth? Do you realize that my children are the most important people in the world to me and your business associate and “partner” has much to answer for? Do you realize that you are involved with blood money stolen from 4 children and a community of 6,700?

Do you realize that the Indianapolis employees of Tracy Anderson Studio’s, LLC prior to June of 07’ would negate any claims by Tracy Anderson that anyone was in control of Tracy Anderson or the chaotic studios other than Tracy Anderson herself?

I have the complete employee listing and contact information if you care to decipher the facts of Tracy Anderson’s uncanny ability to project her worst into the lives of others. Case in point; her ridiculous “Letter to Clients” on her website. That letter personifies the real Tracy Blythe Anderson, and is nothing more than a textbook psychological projection of her fears, wrong doings and pain imposed upon others.

Do you realize that I wrote and initiated a business plan for Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC in the spring of 06’? Do you realize it involved several studios opening around the world, several DVD’s, a clothing and shoe line, equipment and book sales? Sound familiar? Do you realize I supplied my bank and my accountant a copy of this business plan in 2006? Do you realize what this means? Would you like a copy of the business plan, partner?

Do you realize that I am about to prove, beyond the shadow of a doubt, in a Hamilton County Indiana Courtroom, that Tracy Anderson, Tracy Anderson Method and any other business entity or partnership Tracy Anderson has set up or been involved with since January of 07’ is nothing more than a crude attempt to deny yet another businessman/business partner his or her investment and returns. My $800,000 investment is anything but forgotten.

Do you realize because of my trusting in Tracy Anderson, not only have I lost several million dollars personally, an entire community, Portland IN, lost a vital economic project. This project would have generated millions for an economically depressed East Central Indiana. My profits from Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC were going to be dispersed to finish building Xplex-llc, the worlds largest Extreme Sports and Motorsports Park. Do you realize that you can verify this at www.xplexpark.com? Would you like to talk to the Governor or Lieutenant Governor of Indiana about me and my Xplex Project?

Gwyneth, you and I met on several occasions. You and Chris genuinely welcomed and accepted me into your home. My daughter played with your children. So who am I? I am the man Tracy and Eric Anderson conned. I am the man Tracy Anderson was raving about until the minute you mentioned involving yourself in Tracy Anderson Studios, LLC. I believe you to be a good woman, a good mother and a good wife. It is interesting however as to whether the definition of a good person includes doing proper due diligence on one before you defame and try to assassinate their character. Does this mean anything to you?

Madonna, we also met on several occasions. I find it both humorous and redeeming, not in a negative fashion, that you, once voted the 3rd most powerful woman in the world, are in the same position I was in until June of 07’. You are completely suckered and stuck with Tracy Anderson and her “method”. You of all people are smarter than this.

It is quite interesting that both of you, Gwyneth and Madonna, have endorsed Tracy Anderson as a product and neither of you, with all of your resources, did any due diligence before doing so. I hope at the very least that this gets the attention of a few fact finders and attorneys within your organizations, before someone gets hurt and demands the studies and research materials trying to prove negligence.

I do not want either of you to suffer any significant loss or repercussions stemming from your association with Tracy and Eric Anderson.

I encourage anyone, everyone, to investigate these facts and the Realization’s I have provided and attempt to discredit even one.

Do you realize the real story here is sad? A young woman, so warped, so insecure of her abilities and inabilities, that she resorts to trying to ruin the lives of philanthropic and caring human beings for the benefit of only herself.

Do you realize I promote the success of others as a way of life and I wish you Gwyneth, you Madonna and even Tracy Anderson, success attained legally and honestly and with integrity.

This isn’t the place to go into detail about my journey while I’ve been associated with Tracy Anderson. This is a brief reality of a day in the life of one of Tracy and Eric Anderson’s many victims.

My name is Glynn Barber. I can be reached via email, glynnbar@hotmail.com

New York Times just announced new studio. Write letters to the editor. She also owes the State of Indiana and the United States Government. Fraud!
Not even CPR certified let alone a fitness certification. All Certified Fitness Trainers should be appalled! Celebrity fitness advice? Caution it could be dangerous to your health and will kill your bank account!!!

I hope that Gwyneth does read these posts too. I saw her on Oprah today lookin hot saying that it was all due to Tracy Anderson and that she had introduced Tracy to Madonna. It showed video of her working out at her home with Tracy and I have to tell ya that aside from the fact that she works out 2 hours a day for 6 days ( anyone would be looking good!) she had me thinking and I even checked out the website with Visa in hand and sent out a email to my friends to check it out too. Thank God I found this site. Hopefully you will get your money back and hopefully Gwyneth with learn the truth....back to the gym for my routine routine that also works :-)

Thank you, Glynn, for taking the time to write this. I know all you have written to be true but could not prove it. I am relieved to know that you can. I also thank you for encouraging others to do their due diligence.

Wow!! Apparently Tracy Anderson is a gorgeous SNAKE! Glad I found this website as I was seriously contemplating purchasing a few of her DVD's.
You have my empathy. Tracy Anderson sounds like quite the bottom dweller!
I'd like to make a suggestion. Interestingly enough, today- Feb 12 2009 Oprah re-aired the show of Paltrow & Anderson's workout regime. I think those who were terribly screwed by this woman should organize a team of women and contact the media, perhaps the entertainment shows, and explain the circumstance & see if they'll help you blow the whistle on the ever popular "Tracy Anderson"!
It would seem that involving the media on some level might benefit your position, if only to humiliate her in public. But you'll need to be persistent and not let up!

I wish you all the best in recovering your stolen money, and whatever you need to do in order to feel that justice is served!

Good Luck to All of You!!
Linda

Glynn, I recently read your story regarding your horrible experience with Tracy Anderson and with all due respect I say this, how could you have been so naive?
Your an accomplished businessman, and a successful one considering your a millionaire, how could you be so gullible to pay Tracy and her husband's debts? And to have continued to bail her out for so long? You've really taken some hard knocks, a very painful experience no doubt.
That woman needs to be brought to justice somehow and it's certainly not going to happen through this message board.
What's most unfortunate & surprising is that Tracy Anderson is continuing to get away with it, no one is nailing her for it.
I hope resolution will come your way.

Before ever reading any of this background on Tracy Anderson, i bought her DVD's, The Mat Workout, and Cardio Workout, only because i'm a lifelong Madonna fan and i luv dance/fitness. I actually stumbled upon this website looking for Tracy's NY Studio. My heart goes out to those people who lost so much money to Tracy's web of lies. In her monologue on the DVD, she says, "I embarked on this 8 year long research project to transform woman's bodies..." Even i could read thru that...i've been doing aerobics since highschool, i'm 32 now...and most of Tracy's moves are just simple aerobics...nothing special about that. If u want a similar home workout, by a true professional, i encourage you to check out Charlene Prickett.com...I've done her workouts for years, my MOTHER was doing her workouts when i was in diapers, my mother is 64 and believe me, she has the body of Madonna..same results as Tracy's...AND Charlene schools you the entire workout on muscle groups, fitness, nutrition, where you should feel the burn, what is a "bad" pain, and how many reps you have left...she's EXCELLENT. And she has a DVD for every kind of workout you might want to do...step, low impact aerobics, weight training, core strengthening, no-jump aerobics, she's got it all...and read her certifications and awards. She may not be a "glamourous" as Tracy, but she's a true professional. I hope that will help...

Wow,you people have nothing better to do than whine and cry over problems that you should just solve in court or with Tracy herself. I never leave comments on these sites until I saw all this negative drawn out comments about Tracy. I just heard about this woman and her workouts and plan on getting all of her dvds to get in shape again. You do realize most people don't even read or care what you have to say about anything!!!! I just happened to notice this on my way to order her workout dvds. Advice... DON'T COMMENT IT'S A WAIST OF TIME AND ENERGY NOBODY ELSE CARES AND IT WON'T STOP PEOPLE FROM BUYING,TAKING HER CLASSES, OR HAVING HER AS A PERSONAL TRAINER!!!!

Anonymous said...

You read it. LOL. How are you Eric?

Thank you people from Indiana from saving me from losing my money. What a scoundrel she is! No wonder Madonna likes her -- and Gwyneth, 2 of the most self-obsessed celebutards around. I'll do my best to get this info to Oprah at least. Don't worry, she'll get her Karmic License revoked!

These comments and reading about how Tracy just up and left her Fisher studio contributed to NOT joining her NYC studio. I sent an email to them about the NCY Studio after learning about her from the Oprah show. The want you to put up $2500 to join...which essentially was paying for a few months in advance. I decided not to do it given her track record. I bought the DVD's instead. Much cheaper and I really enjoy them.

You all should post this on Amazon.com, as it looks as if Tracy just locked in a deal to sell her DVDs with them!!!!!

SCAM ARTIST!

I read all these postings and I am a Pilates studio owner and have been an instructor for over 15 years. Tracy Anderson comes across where it is all about the end result and getting down to a size 2 and not about health. If you had the time to workout 3 hours a day, yes, you can get results quickly. But what concerns me is everyone cannot be a size 2. I feel this invokes an unhealthy body image where it will lead to eating disorders and exercise bulimia.
I think fitness needs to be viewed as a lifestyle change. It also needs to viewed as being healthy on the inside first before the external can follow. This quick result thing is unattainable if you work 12 hours a day or have a family or are a single parent or are a business owner without a partner or are on a strict budget and so on. It is life and sometimes things in life take time. So with that being said, I have never done her technique and I will not comment on it, but it is what she is portraying is what concerns me as a fitness professional and business owner.
For someone to be dishonest and uncaring to her clients and then to be endorsed by celebrities as if what she did was OK. That makes my industry look shallow. I take what I do seriously and honestly, as do my peers that I know in the industry. We work very hard to maintain a good reputation and continue to educate ourselves to make our training a better product. Those are the people who should get notoriety. Unfortunately, at this time and in this case being honest isn't enough and this is what saddens me.
Anyway, I said my peace. You have to find what technique works for you and what you enjoy not what everyone says you should do or what everyone does.
Feel free to comment by posting on this site or emailing me

I am really really sorry so many people have lost $$ by Tracy Anderson and that they feel hurt and betrayed. It sounds horrible.

But I have got both of her DVDs and I absolutely love them and have gotten great results from them. For some reason she inspires me to do them 4-5 times a week.

Granted - her style is different and maybe a little odd. But it works for me.

I saw this about Tracy Anderson and I have to agree.
The biggest let down for me recently on Oprah’s stage was a personal trainer named Tracy Anderson, who apparently is responsible for the hard bodies of celebrities like Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow. Her 2 hour a day work outs involve such specialized fitness ‘tools’ (bands secured to the walls and ceilings of her New York gym) that your average girl certainly could not have access to either the equipment nor the excessive amount of free time it would take to ‘look like Madonna’. The worst insult was this trainer’s rule that women should never work with weights weighing more than 3 pounds in order to avoid getting bulky, a point she felt so important it was strewn across the bottom of the screen in big, bold print so we could really marinate in it. Lift our kids, our groceries…hell, our huge over-the-shoulder handbags all the live long day but when in the gym, a 3 pound limit. I have not stopped bitching about this gross spreading of misinformation since I viewed the episode, especially the getting bulky by lifting weights nonsense.

Exactly what is Tracy thinking- and how could OPRAH NOT catch this after working out for YEARS!! Every personal trainer probably rolled their eyes with this wild card televised statement. Who does the screeing for Oprah? It's not the first time she's been conned (remember the guy who wrote the book saying he was a recovered drug user- and it was all fiction?) I just saw on Tracys website- her 'fashion' shoot / video. At the very end- it said HARPO Productions. Now- that's OPRAH's company. If oprah is backing Tracy and giving her $$ for this DVD series- you guys KNOW she's got $$ to pay you. unless she's using it to pay back other lawsuits.

As for being a Pink Ranger...um....NO. I worked with Erin Cahil on a project and she was the Pink Ranger as was another girl for awhile.
Many don't know about www.imdb.com and they fall for anything an actress con-artist says. I drove and walked by the Tracy Anderson Studios in Studio City (on Ventura Blvd) and it always looked closed and dead empty. Whenever I went to go to pick up more headshots at the bulk reproduction lab- it always looked dead.
here's something else interesting... because like most con artists- guess what's coming around the corner for her?

That's right- A REALITY show starring her.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1604229/maindetails

when you work for- and then get fired by Madonna- you're bound to get your own show.

I hope all you IN people get your $$ back. She's probably making a mint for this show, by now.

This is great article, it explains lots of doubts I had. I appreciate your effort, you have made it easy for me to understand.

Please. You people need to but things into perspective. There are a zillion and one exercise companies that have done the same. Spa Lady is one that comes to mind.

Life happens. And sometimes it is messy. Tracy's exercises are fantastic. I don't know her, other than the purchase of her book .. 30-Day Method.

Creative people are rarely business minded. Bad deals happen all the time. Look for the good. Look for what you want out of something.

Kindess and awareness will usually take you where you want to go.

And as for Tracy .. you go girl .. keep doing what you do and you will find an honest business person to support you someday. If you have not already.
