Madonna planning for end of the world

Word is Madonna wants to buy a house in the Israeli town of Rosh Pina, where "the ancient Jewish Kabbalah tradition expects the Messiah to appear at the end of the world."

A local newspaper, Yediot Aharonot reported yesterday that the owner of a raggedy 100 year old, five bedroom villa overlooking the Sea of Galilee had been "recently contacted several times by representatives of the superstar with a view to selling his property."

They say Madonna wants to renovate the building and make it a centre to study Kabbalah.

David Arquette joins series

David Arquette has joined the cast of an ABC comedy series called In Case of Emergency.

The tv show is about four high school friends who reunite during a crossroads in their lives. Arquette will play a "slick, wealthy businessman who, facing prison as a result of an Enron-type corporate scandal, decides to kill himself and winds up hospitalized when he shoots himself in the foot instead." Yikes!

Cruise gets his Razzie

Tom Cruise won in a new category for most "tiresome tabloid target" at The Razzie Awards for his public spectacle of his peculiar romance with Katie Holmes.

"As guarded, not necessarily secretive, but as private about his personal life as he used to be, for him to suddenly propose in front of reporters on the Eiffel Tower and jump up and down like the monkey in 'Curious George' on Oprah Winfrey's couch, there truly is some problem there," said Razzies founder John Wilson.

Hilton was named worst supporting actress for "House of Wax," a prize "I could have told you she would win as soon as I heard she was going to be in the movie," Wilson said.

Jenny McCarthy received three Razzies for worst picture, actress and screenplay as producer, star and writer of the gag comedy "Dirty Love."

Locklear's dad wants her to date athlete

In Touch reports that Heather Locklear's dad Bill wants her to stop dating the head bangers and go with a nice, clean cut athlete.

The goss is he picked 1985 MVP baseball player Bret Saberhagen (above). Bill told a pal, "Bret's a good guy, he's handsome. She should date someone like him and stop the nonsense with musicians."

A pal of Brett's said, "Sure, Bret would date Heather- she's beautiful. But he has short hair and no tattoos. After Tommy Lee and Richie Sambora could Heather be with such a regular guy?"

Britney divorce soon?

Divorce rumors continue with poor Britney. Life & Style mag reports that Brit was quite disturbed over these pics. The chick in the snaps is French singer Sandy Lakdar. Lakdar herself insists there's nothing to worry about, saying she doesn't have affairs with "married men." Hmmm. Where have we heard that before?

Even Britney's uncle was rumored of telling a reporter earlier this week, "I don't think Britney and Kevin are going to stay together."
