Gervais ready to play

Ricky Gervais is "adapting his children's book series Flanimals for the big screen." In 3D. Cool. Matt Selman (The Simpsons) will write the script, Gervais will executive produce. Who are the Flanimals? The creatures who go by Clunge Ambler, Grundit, Puddloflaj and Munty Flumple, all animated by combining traditional claymation techniques with cutting edge computer- modelled effects.

Gervais will voice the lead creature for the movie, "a fat purple gremlin on a mission to change the world." We need one of those. Gervais said, "It will be great to play a short, fat, sweaty loser for a change. A real stretch."

Beyonce helps fight hunger...in the USA

Beyonce has teamed up with General Mills to co-sponsor a national hunger relief campaign during her I AM.. tour kicking off in NYC on June 21.

Beyonce is asking her concertgoers to bring non-perishable food items to donate throughout her tour. "Through the work I do with my Survivor Foundation, I've been committed to helping families get back on their feet in difficult times," said Beyoncé. "That's why I'm excited to get involved in this effort to help Feeding America deliver more than 3.5 million meals to local food banks. If we all show a helping hand, together we can make a difference in the fight against hunger."

Statement from Farrah Fawcett's producer, Craig Nevius:

"On Farrah Fawcett's behalf, I can confirm that she recently checked into a Los Angeles hospital. And although it is usually against her nature to correct false or exaggerated stories that originate in tabloid-style reports by offering true information that they would not otherwise have to publish, Farrah is allowing this statement out of appreciation for her fans, who have offered their constant support throughout her fight, as well as out of concern for the countless other cancer patients who have written her over the last two-and-a-half years in order to tell her that they are following her story in the hope that there is hope."

He added, "Tonight, Farrah has hope, and she hopes that others will continue to hold onto theirs."

Fawcett's physician, Lawrence Piro, M.D., who regularly consults with her doctors in Germany (where she sought treatment), issued this statement: "There have been some photographs that have been widely published of Farrah Fawcett in a wheelchair. The reason she was in that wheelchair is because she had a small procedure while in Germany and left for the airport soon after. She could have stayed in Germany to recuperate for a day or two but she was really very anxious to come home."

As a result, he said, "she took a nine-hour flight right after that procedure. It turned out that the procedure caused a small amount of bleeding in one of the muscles of her abdomen, making a hematoma, which was quite painful. Actually, it was painful for her to walk, which is why she was in that wheelchair. And that pain, which was coming from the hematoma, had nothing directly to do with the cancer."

"Real Housewives of New York" Countess LuAnn de Lesseps and Count Alexandre de Lesseps are separating after 16 years of marriage. Shocker. "He finally sent her an email saying he was with an Ethiopian woman in Geneva, and he was serious with her." See..and in a classy EMAIL. She ran around and shoved the countess thing down everyone's throat and he found a nice, Ethiopian woman. That's what happens.

Yesterday, publicist Elizabeth Rosenthal said the couple "plan to remain friends and their primary focus will be to do what is best for their two children." The countess and count have a 15-year-old daughter, Victoria, and a 13-year-old son, Noel.

Rosenthal declined to comment on reports the breakup came after COUNTESS learned her husband she hadn't seen in 6 months was having a relationship with another woman. Word is she demands she will "stay a Countess." That is so funny. Get over it. Maybe it's all for her book releasing in a couple of weeks.

Regarding recent particulars with Madge and her current adoption chaos..seriously, read this if you desire specifics.. Yesterday, Madonna's other son from Malawi, David, spent time with his biological father Yohane. "Two-and-a-half years after Yohane Banda gave David up for adoption following the death of the tot's mother, father and son met at the lodge where the singer and her children are staying - as she bids to adopt a second Malawian child."

"Using a translator from Madonna's charity Raising Malawi, three-year-old David shared details of his life with the pop superstar and her other children Lourdes, 12, and Rocco, eight, and his adoptive father Guy Ritchie, who split from the singer last year."

"Speaking afterwards, Yohane told reporters, 'He asked me who I was. When I told him, 'I am your daddy' he looked surprised. It's amazing how David has grown; I can't believe he is the same small and sickly baby we left at Home of Hope (orphanage)."

"He seems to be a polite boy for he asked if he could sit on my lap... He is quite chatty and intelligent. He asked me lots of questions about lots of things. He asked me whether I ride horses. I told him horses are for the rich and he asked me why I am poor..." Curious.

Anyway, Banda's dad continues, "He told me his mum plays music and asked me what I do for life. I told him I was a farmer. He asked what a farmer does and I explained to him that we use hoes to till the land....He told me his daddy, Mr Ritchie, took him to a farm but it had a tractor. I told him in Africa we use hoes." Get that man a tractor!

"He seems to like his daddy, Mr Ritchie, so much that I was a little sad Madonna broke up with him. I would have loved it if they sorted out whatever problems they had instead of divorcing because divorce is bad for kids." Yohane did express, "That baby is going to have the advantages of going to school and of becoming someone," he said. "Here it is very difficult."
