Val Kilmer will play the lead role in a new sci-fi thriller, The Thaw. The flick is about a team of eco students on an Arctic expedition, discovering their research station abandoned and creepy. Scare time. They soon learn that a prehistoric parasite has been released by global warming = nightmare infectious attack. Mark Lewis will direct.
Martha MacIsaac (Superbad) co-stars as Kilmer's daughter. Arctic exteriors will be recreated on a ranch east of Williams Lake. The research station's set will shoot in Vancouver. Filming starts up June 16.
Meanwhile, Kilmer is in Shreveport filming Streets of Blood, a movie about two cops dealing with all of the chaos post-Katrina. After his partner dies- Val begins to realize he was actually murdered. Enter evil criminal underworld. Sharon Stone, 50 Cent, and Dylan McDermott also star.
