Singer Lou Rawls has died at 72. He passed Friday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, where he was hospitalized last month for treatment of lung and brain cancer, his publicist said. His wife, Nina, was at his bedside when he died.

lou rawls hosted the UNCF telethons for years. he was a good guy with a big voice and a bigger heart.
as a young, white suburbanite, lou rawls was completely off my radar. plus, i never got to reap the benefits of the UNCF. i just finished off paying college loans. thanks for nothing, lou. :P
