Nicole Kidman has received Australia's top civil honor for her work in film, and her efforts to help promote women's health.
Kidman was awarded the "Companion of the Order of Australia" at Government House in Canberra, the country's highest honor, which is given to citizens for their 'eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree in service to Australia or humanity at large.'
The honor is equivalent to an English knighthood. Kidman said, "It's a pat on the back, which as a little girl is something you dream of."

What? Are you kidding me? I haven't heard anything about Nicole's work for women and I am sure there are a lot more deserving people in Aus. who continuously work for the betterment of other people, but I suppose it would be too much for them to be honoured since they don't have celeb. status!
