Nick Lachey buys basketball team

Nick Lachey and pal A.J. DiScala are starting a basketball team. "The Hollywood Fame" will join the American Basketball Association in November.

"The Hollywood Fame" will launch its inaugural season this year with home games to be played at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. Player tryouts were held on Tuesday, with an additional September date planned to fill out the remaining spots on the team as well as those for official "Hollywood Fame" cheerleading positions.

Discala said, "We're excited about 'The Hollywood Fame' bringing highly skilled basketball players to the fans of Los Angeles. We are creating a unique family entertainment option at affordable prices."

Other "Fame" owners include Geoff Stults, Stacy Keibler, former NBA legend John Salley, former Major League baseball All-Star Brady Anderson, NFL quarterback Kyle Boller of the Baltimore Ravens and NASCAR's Brian Vickers.

The ABA will see more than 60 teams beginning play in November, including teams in the U.S., Mexico and Canada, the association says.

I'm here via Sar, but I'm afraid John Salley is the only name I recognize. Good luck to the outfit, though.
