The director of the in-the-works biopic The Gospel According to Janis, Penelope Spheeris, said she is in talks with Pink, Lindsay Lohan, Scarlett and Zooey Deschanel to play Janis Joplin. Britney Spears had her agent call Spheeris to see if she would meet with them. Oh she has Janis written all over her...no. My mom would be appalled!
Spheeris told US that, "Pink would be my first choice, but she may have scheduling conflicts." She said, "Music ability is most important. But most of all, the actress must have the spirit of Janis."
The film is due to start filming in September. Renee Zellweger has been cast to play Joplin in another film called Piece of My Heart

Renee as Joplin....yeppers, that sounds like a Razzie in the making...think she will sign up for Catwoman 2?
Hollywood needs to stop with the dead musican biopics.
Of course, I'd pay big bucks to see Nicole Ritchie star in the Caren Carpenter Story. Seems like she's been prepping for the role for quite a while.
